John is a senior IP attorney in patenting, portfolio development, litigation, and licensing. A registered U.S. patent attorney, John has litigation experience in state and federal courts, as well as domestic and international arbitration, in patents, employment cases, breach of contract, and other commercial disputes. He has represented clients in software, hardware, data communications, medical equipment, and semiconductor industries.
Having practiced transnational transactions through the 1980s
in-house with Saudi Aramco in Europe and the Middle East, John shifted focus to IP during the 1990s and moved into private practice. Now headquartered in Taos, he also practices Of Counsel with his long-time law partner Artoush Ohanian of OhanianIP in Austin and Atlanta.
John has served as an adjunct professor teaching intellectual property. He has been lead counsel on more than a thousand patents.
